Dra. Tersesa Mairal Lerga (Spain, 1976), graduated in Chemistry and Biochemistry (2000) at University Rovira I Virgili (Spain), Ph.D. In Pharmacy (2006) at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (Spain).?Master in Organic Chemistry from University of Barcelona and Master in Biochemistry from Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS). Dr. Teresa Mairal Lerga joined Interfibio Group as Post-Doctoral Researcher (2006-present), and is developing research/work in aptamer lupin development. She worked on the aptamer biosensor development for the celiac disease on the National Project (GLUTACATCH) and European Project (CD-CHEF). In this period, she specialized on electrochemical and fluorescence biosensor. She also?participated in projects related with the developments of noninvasive methods for neonatal diseases joined in different projects (SMILE, NIPPED, VALTEC)

In the last year, she was involved on the aptamer development against beta-conglutin (RECERCAIXA project) and nowadays she is involved in a collaborative project with King Abdulaziz University selecting aptamers against biogenic amines and their application for food quality and clinical diagnosis.

Dr. Mairal has published 18 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has co-supervised 2 doctoral theses.

Her main research interests involve:

– Optimization of the extraction and isolation of globulin proteins from Lupinus albus;

– To develop an integrated microsystem for the separation of plasma from maternal blood sample, isolation of circulating cell free foetal DNA and its qualitative and quantitative characterisation to be used as a minimally-invasive tool for the early, primary diagnosis/monitoring of various diseases.
