Dr. Vasoula Skouridou (Cyprus, 1975) received her B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering (1998) and her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (2004), both from the National Technical University of Athens (Greece). She worked as a Post-Doctoral researcher at the University of Texas at Austin (USA) (2004-2007) and the University of California San Franscisco (USA) (2007-2010) and she joined the Interfibio Group as a postdoctoral researcher in 2012. She is currently working on the selection of aptamers against steroids and viral proteins, and the development of different platforms for the detection of nucleic acids, small molecules and proteins related to food safety and infectious diseases using novel nanomaterials, paper-based assays and DNA binding proteins. Her main research interests involve the development, characterization and application of aptamers, characterization of DNA-protein and DNA-small molecule interactions and recombinant protein expression and purification.
