About us

The DEW Research Laboratory was founded in April 2010 at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili by Drs. Joan Rosell-Llompart and Jordi Grifoll, with a commitment to research excellence on microfluidic systems characterized by free liquid interfaces.

We currently focus on two areas:

On the one hand, we study the physics and physico-chemistry involved in the transformations of microfluidic systems with free interfaces, such as microdroplet generation, transport of fine airborne particles, dispersion of charged micro-droplet sprays, solute precipitation in micro-droplets and micro-jets.

Our second focus is the application of fundamentals in order to design novel micro- and nano- solid materials, such as nanoparticles, nanofibers, or thin coatings. Such materials find application in catalysis, controlled drug delivery, nonlinear optics, electronics, energy, medical devices, etc. We collaborate with other research teams and companies on these topics.

DEW also participates in MEtA, a 'consolidated research group' of the Catalan Government.

DEW is also a member of AECyTA, Spanish Association for Aerosol Science and Technology
