SOCIETY
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed
The Department of Chemical Engineering considers paramount its role as an agent of progress and change in its immediate and wider societal environment. In this sense, our faculty and staff continuously take initiatives and if you are interested in spearheading such efforts contact us (secdeq@urv.cat).
Here are some of the ways you can get involved or partner with the Department:
Solidarity fund Vicenç Claramonte
This privately funded initiative provides scholarships for students undertaking Masters theses on topics that show the contribution of Chemical Engineering in sustainability and equality. Projected to initiate more activities, the fund allows you to contribute or apply for support (secdeq@urv.cat)
The ETSEQ-industry alliance
This initiative spearheaded by Emeritus Professor Dr. Francesc Castells brings together industry and Academia and is institutionally supported by the Tarragona Chemical Industry Association, and the ETSEQ. Every company that wishes can designate a “partner” and the Department offers a faculty member to meet informally and to discuss, projects, problems and ideas for improving the training and value addition to society. If you have an idea and like to collaborate with us, apply here (francesc.castells@urv.cat)
- The Jesús Sueiras’ University adoption initiative
Emeritus professor Dr. Jesús Sueiras has travelled Central America to establish adoption schemes whereby the Department equipment laboratories and provides training and long term support for Universities in developing countries to develop state of the art research facilities. The programme is extended for other countries and if you have interest you can apply to our Secretary of Graduates Studies (secdoc.deq@urv.cat).
The APQUA programme responds to the needs of local society in relation to Chemistry Education since 1984. The “Understanding of Chemical Products, their Uses and Applications” programme allows community leaders and citizens to partner with University for preliminary studies on current problems and for the development of useful tools.
